Newspapers

I worked another two hours today at the off-site storage facility. We’re still working on going through Elsie Louis’ stash of news articles and family pictures. I’ve learned so much about her family history and some facts on the old Chinatown that used to be on Palm Street. She had a newspaper article from 1988 about pan-ethnicity and one on “yellow peril” that we talked about in class. Probably the most interesting thing we found were projection slides of Elsie doing African dances on a beach, primarily because I really love dance too. Also, it’s always a plus to find pictures among the mountains of newspaper clippings.

Just wait until you get to her newspaper fascination of Tiger Woods. However, it was cool to see the things someone was interested in all put together in one box.
